Anti Aging

Anti Aging

Women worldwide fear the thought of having to put up with the signs of aging upon entering their later years. What many don’t realize is that there are simple things one can do to minimize if not outright prevent the unsightly signs of aging.

Aging (as research has indicated) comes in two distinct flavors – intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic aging refers to aging brought about as a result of heredity. Since this type of aging depends on our genes, it is often difficult to prevent. Extrinsic aging is aging brought about by external factors. Such external factors could include sun exposure, tendency to perform certain behaviors (such as squinting), etc.

Extrinsic aging, unlike intrinsic aging, can be prevented with some effort on your part. Now that we’re up to speed on the two types of aging, let’s look into what we can do to prevent the latter type. First, one should maintain a diet that is low and fat but high in carbohydrates. To achieve such a feat, we recommend eating plenty of fruits and grains while also consuming optimal amounts of water (5-8 glasses). Second, exercise should be a top priority to a person looking to preserve their beauty.

We suggest you organize an exercise routine which you can perform on a daily basis. Most experts agree that a thirty minute workout is more than enough for the average person. Finally, one should look into taking the appropriate supplements to keep looking young. Among these supplements should be vitamin E, A, and C.

If you’d like further information on supplements, we recommend talking to your nutritionist. We encourage and support those who’ve just started battling the unsettling signs of aging. It is our hope that you put forth your best effort to combat aging!

Are You Overweight, Is It Too Late?

Saturday, September 12th, 2009
Article Body:
When is it too late to start exercising and eating healthy? Some people say never, I disagree with that. I think it would be hard to do that when you are 6 feet under because you never started eating healthy and exercising. But as long as  you are still breathing, it is not too late.
If you are overweight it makes life much harder, getting up and down, walking anywhere, much less trying to exercise. Out of the corner of your eye you see people staring and whispering. They might as well go ahead and point, too.
The best time to start an exercise program and eating healthy is when you are young. Unfortunately that is not always the case. As a person gets older, that old saying, “It is hard to teach an old dog new tricks”, is very true, but not impossible. For whatever reason people tend to be less active.
At any age a person should and can improve their way of eating and getting some kind of exercise. You don’t have to quit eating, if you do that, you might dry up like a prune. Learning a new way of eating and enjoying new foods, with a friend or group, is a good way to lose the weight.
Walk with a friend 2 or 3 times a week. Start off walking short distances and increase it a little at a time. You’ll be surprised at how much better you begin to feel each day. Between the eating healthy and exercising you’ll feel like an new person in no time and life will be better and easier.
Soon those  same people who were staring and whispering will come up to you and say, “Don’t I know you, you look so familiar, but I just can’t place you?” And you will smile and say, “You must be mistaken, that was another person.”
Start today with your new way of life; you’re going to love the way you feel.

Drinking Tea Can Actually Help You Lose Weight

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Tea

Tea

Although experts are divided on exactly how healthy green tea, there is no doubt that it has some health benefits. The following are the ones that have some scientific research behind them.

Firstly, green tea shares all the health benefits that are thought to come from black tea, except in a more effective form, as the tea is fresher. Tea can help reduce your chances of getting heart disease by up to half, as well as fight dental plaque and cavities (although it will also stain your teeth if you dont make sure to drink plenty of water and brush regularly, so watch out).

Drinking tea also burns more calories than just taking caffeine in pill form, as your body has to cool down the hot drink once it is inside you, and that takes energy. Tea can often burn more calories than it contains, meaning that could potentially help you to lose weight if you drink enough of it.

Strangely enough, tea is also thought to affect the colour of your hair if you drink it in sufficient quantities. Black tea will make your hair darker, while green tea will make it a little redder  it sounds too far-fetched to be true, but many women swear by it, particularly in India.

Unfortunately, there is also no shortage of people willing to claim that green tea will help you with whatever condition is fashionable at the moment. For that reason, read this list with some scepticism  its up to you if you want to believe in green tea, or if it makes you personally feel better, but little has been proven scientifically either way. Green tea has been mooted as a cure for cancer, Alzheimers, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, cardiovascular disease and HIV. But if it worked, surely wed all be drinking it by now?

Crazy Contact Lenses – Making Them Look Deep Into Your Eyes

Monday, August 10th, 2009
Contact Lens

Contact Lens

The possibilities are endless. Get wild, weird, or simply beautiful lenses for whatever occasion you attend or impression you want to make.

But because decorative lenses do not always require a prescription and because there are so many ways to buy them, it’s important that consumers research companies selling them, especially those based online. Do not put your eyesight at risk!

They say eyes are windows to the soul. So if you are creatively stylish with your makeup, clothes, shoes, or hairdo, why not do the same with your eyes? Even if you have 20/20 vision, you can still be a part of the fashion trend of crazy contact lenses. Don’t just change the color of your eye, change the design! You don’t even need a prescription.

But if you do have prescribed contact lenses, why not experiment a little? Remember when you were younger and wore orange and black wired braces for the month of Halloween? Well, how about on October 31st you wear a really spooky pair of contact lenses?

There are all sorts of crazy contact lenses out there. You can make your eyeballs look entirely green or you can appear to have cat eyes. Maybe you want to wear crazy contact lenses for Halloween, a night out on the town, or perhaps you prefer a subtler, but equally awesome look for your daily life.

Orovo, the Easy Way to Better Health

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Orovo Better Health

Orovo Better Health

When I heard about Dr. Pericones discovery of the 10 superfoods featured on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show “10 Years Younger in 10 Days,” I immediately wanted to try the challenge myself. After making a list of these 10 superfoods I set out to find them. It should be pretty easy, right? After visiting 3 different grocery stores, I had only collected about half and realized the challenge would be more difficult than I originally imagined!

I thought, someone needs to bottle this mixture up and sell it as a single supplement! Then I found that someone already had. The wife of the CEO of Orovo happened to be watching that day and decided to take on the challenge of incorporating these foods into her diet for 10 days. Looking younger is a matter of perception, but what was measurable were the pounds and acne she lost in the process.

To make incorporating these superfoods from all around the world into her and others diets, they created the Orovo dietary supplements with high quality extracts of these 10 superfoods. Combining these extracts with green tea and wrinkle removers, Orovo was designed to help people realize their health goals — whether that is to lose weight, detox their body, improve their skin or just become overall healthier.

White Gold

Friday, August 7th, 2009

White Gold

White Gold

White Gold began gaining popularity in the early 1900s as an alternative to platinum.  Platinum was steadily becoming more fashionable, but because of its rarity many could not afford it. Then, during World War II the government put a ban on the use of Platinum for any non-military functions and the demand for White Gold skyrocketed.

The most common alloys added to gold to produce white gold are nickel, palladium and silver.  Most white gold jewelry is also given an electroplated rhodium coating to intensify brightness.

Throughout this process, white gold retains many of the benefits of gold.  It wont tarnish and due to the metals added, it is stronger than its yellow counterpart.

Recently, palladium has replaced nickel as the common alloy in white gold.  It seems that a small percent of the population-approximately 12-15%-has an allergic reaction to nickel causing skin irritation and rashes. It is now required by law that jewelry pieces containing nickel be labeled nickel-containing.

Oily Skin- Why Some Of Us Have Oily Skin?

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Oily Skin- A Trouble?

Oily Skin

Oily Skin

Oily skin is a big trouble for many of us. Why our skin oozes more oils than others is a big mystery for the sufferers. The skin attracts more dirt and is more prone to acne. it has shining look and causes all types of cosmetic problems. Why do we have that kind of skin? Can we do something to eliminate this problem forever? Let us find out.

Skin- Why Does It Produce Oils?

Our skin produces sebum. This sebum is mainly made of  lipids. The sebum protects us from microbial infections and keeps our skin moist. Along with sebum, we also produce sweat. Our skin also sheds dead skin cells. All these combine and form a layer on the skin. Those who have oily skin, produce more of sebum. Hormones mainly activate the sebum production and some of us are genetically conditioned to produce more oils. You should talk with your doctor if anything can be done with the hormones.

Oily Skin Management-

To manage oily skin the only common way is to use oil free products. Wash your face at least twice a day with soap. Use oil absorbing blotting papers. Use more of powder products. Astringents will remove lot of oil and so do the toners. Look after your oily skin because you will get fewer wrinkles than those who have dry skin. They will envy you after some years.

Celebrating the Joy of Nutrition and Fitness Part 7 of 7

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

3.    Drink in the evening: Serve power drinks for dinner.

Skip the soft drinks and pour a power drink for the whole family. Kids of all ages need bone-building calcium and protein to stay strong and grow tall. Milk (1 percent or fat-free) is a delicious way to get powerful protein, vitamins, minerals, and fluids all in one glass.

4.    Drink smart at parties: Watch alcohol and eggnog.

Alcoholic drinks add calories themselves, and they reduce inhibitions so you also eat more food. Eggnog is high in calories, with or without alcohol. If you do choose to drink alcohol, alternate your drinks with glasses of refreshing water. Never drink and drive.

5.    Drink before activity: Hydrate yourself with water.

Being well hydrated enhances your athletic performance and your enjoyment. You’ll do better and feel better, too! Drink at least 8 to 16 ounces of water a couple of hours before you begin any intense physical activity. Then have another 8 ounces right beforehand.

6.    Drink during activity: Stay cool with cool fluids.

Try to drink at least 8 ounces for every half hour of strenuous activity, even when it is cold. On a brisk walk, you can sweat as much as a quart per hour. Water is best in most cases. Sports drinks may help if your activity lasts over an hour or if the intensity is very high.

Celebrating the Joy of Nutrition and Fitness Part 6 of 7

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

6.    Move together: Join a class or walk with friends.

Making a commitment to someone else always makes it easier to fit fitness in. Plan walking holiday get-togethers, like caroling, in your neighborhood. Or check out the local mall walkers. Give a gift certificate to a dance or yoga class–for you and a friend!

Smart Drinks for Healthy Holidays

Staying well hydrated can make a difference in your health, your performance, and even your attitude. Choosing power drinks (like water, milk, and juice) instead of soft drinks and alcohol can help you maintain a healthy weight–and quench your thirst at the same time.

1.    Drink smart in the AM: Pour a glass of milk or juice.

Start the day out right by drinking at least 8 ounces of refreshing liquids before you leave the house. For an early morning health kick, choose a tall glass of low-fat or fat-free milk; some 100 percent fruit or vegetable juice; or a creamy fruit and yogurt smoothie.

2.    Drink smart all day: Keep a water bottle handy.

Carry a bottle in the car, to work, or at school, and fill it with cool water throughout the day. If you enjoy a bubbly beverage, try sparkling water or club soda instead of a sugary soft drink. For a real thirst quencher, add a slice of fresh lime, lemon, or orange.
